Ferrous sulfate
Ferrous sulfate is a common filter material in the water purification market. It is mostly light green or blue-green crystals and is often called "green vitriol" or "black vitriol". Ferrous sulfate is particularly good at treating alkaline wastewater and has unique uses. Moreover, it has a more obvious water purification effect. Its chemical formula is FeSO4. CAS number: 7720-78-7[1].

Ferrous sulfate is a byproduct of the production of a relatively rare metal product using the sulfuric acid process. Ferrous sulfate can adjust the pH range of alkaline water and adsorb suspended particulate matter in the water, thus accelerating sedimentation. Currently, it is mainly used in the treatment of industrial wastewater and municipal sewage, exhibiting strong bactericidal effects. Ferrous sulfate also has a wide range of applications, such as in agriculture (for watering plants) and in medicine (as an anti-anemia drug).
Applications: Industrial wastewater treatment (metallurgy, mineral processing, coal washing, steel, papermaking, leather, etc.) and municipal sewage treatment, agricultural planting, and pharmaceutical industries.
1. Ferrous sulfate is readily soluble in water and has reducing properties.
2. In agriculture, it can be used as a pesticide to prevent plant yellowing, replenish iron in the soil, and as a fertilizer.
3. In industrial water treatment, it can be used as a coagulant to clarify wastewater. Chemically, it can be used as a reducing agent and catalyst in wastewater containing chemical elements.
4. In medicine, it can be used as an anti-anemia drug, replenishing the body's iron and addressing symptoms of iron-deficiency anemia.
5. It is widely used in water purification agents, preservatives, printing and dyeing agents, and pigments.
6. Food-grade ferrous sulfate can supplement iron nutrition in plants and serve as a coloring agent for vegetables and fruits.
First, wastewater samples are taken for small-scale beaker tests to determine the optimal dosage of ferrous sulfate. The ferrous sulfate solution is then prepared according to the specified ratio. Finally, the ferrous sulfate solution and wastewater are added to the reaction tank with continuous stirring to achieve water purification.
Storage Precautions: Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated room, away from fire sources and direct sunlight. The ferrous sulfate packaging must be airtight and protected from moisture, as this can cause evaporation. Never store with toxic, harmful, flammable, explosive, or other chemical agents.
