      Chemical Selection for Paper Mill Wastewater Treatment:

      The effectiveness of polyacrylamide in papermaking depends on its average molecular weight, ionic properties, ionic strength, and the activity of other copolymers.

      The most important applications of polyacrylamide are in paper mill wastewater treatment (anionic polyacrylamide), fiber recovery, and downstream sludge dewatering (cationic polyacrylamide).

      Chemical Consumption:

      The pretreatment process for paper mill wastewater treatment requires polyaluminum chloride and anionic polyacrylamide. The dosage varies depending on the wastewater concentration; higher concentrations require higher dosages. A dosage of approximately 10-15 ppm (i.e., 0.01-0.015 kg/ton of wastewater) is recommended. The basic consumption of cationic polyacrylamide for post-treatment sludge dewatering is generally 3-6 kg for oven-dry sludge.

      Transportation and Storage:
